PLACES TO EAT

We have many really good restaurants and eateries in the area. Click PLACES TO EAT above for a list of the best and closest to Little Paradise.

THINGS TO DO

We are very fortunate to be located in the middle of the Midlands Meander. This means that we have access to all that the Meander has to offer.

The Meander web site and the official Meander Brochure (available at all Meander members and other outlets) contain information about the activities and events, accommodation, cuisine, arts and crafts, activities (slow or on the go), and retail therapy till you drop!

Please click on the Midlands Meander logo below to view all that there is on offer

If you are going further afield in Natal check out the Zulu Kingdom web site Loads of very well organised information

CHERYL MOVES TO BLUE HAZE

CHERYL SMITH, manager at Little Paradise, will be leaving us at the end of March 2012. Cheryl has been at Little Paradise for four years and we are sad to see her go. We wish her all the very best in her new position and for the future.

MOON GALLERY

Patty Moon has joined the Midlands Meander Artists' Guild and her work can be viewed at The Barn at Little Paradise. Make an appointment to share a glass of wine and view her current work.

THE PONDS AT THE BARN

A cute little pied kingfisher has discovered the tadpoles in the ponds and is a frequent visitor! The local hamerkop has flattened the goldfish stock and we believe his accomplice is a fine looking cormorant. A pair of Drakensberg prinias have taken up residence in the garden and the frogs have found their voices- (they)"all stand together" (apologies to McCarthy)

CAPE PARROTS

The parrots came again in 2008. They arrived early at the end of April and in greater numbers than the year before. We think they may have been young ones. A good sign!

In 2009 we saw one pair of birds twice. There are very few nuts on the pecan trees this year as a result of a hail storm during the summer. This could account for the birds not coming here. There may also be plenty of food elsewhere as we have had a very wet summer. On the annual Cape Parrot Big Birding Day we did not see a single bird!
This season we have see two birds fly past. Again there are very few pecan nuts.

Reedbuck in the morning

The REEDBUCK (Southern) are seen most evenings. This year we have observed a large handsome male and his doe. The two other males can be seen in the pic above. They were spotted at 5am next to the the main house fence!
